Mazda CX -5 Maxx Sport 2WD
The Mazda CX5 ranges in price from $33,620 to $39,470. Basically you have the choice between front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and a choice of 2.0 or 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine, unleaded, diesel or 2.2L engine.
As expected, the diesel variant comes at a slightly higher price. Expect fuel consumption of 6.4/100Km for entry-level engine Mazda unleaded, unleaded 7.4/100Km 5.7/100Km to 2.5L and diesel. 2.0L 114kW draws, while the 2.5L diesel 138kW and 129kW managed compliment. Mazda handles even under difficult conditions, and has a system of electronic security systems.
Trailing the Mazda CX5 is the Honda CR-V. The CR-V starts at $27,490 and goes up to $42,290. It comes with either a five-speed automatic transmission or six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive or 4 x 4 on request.
Performance and fuel efficiency varies greatly depending on the model, but you can expect performance of around 7.7/100Km. The good news is that Honda 2.4L variant is quite strong. The bad news is that entry-level 2.0L is comparatively weak. And while the outside is pretty snazzy, does have some interior plastic-looking features.
The Hyundai ix35 ranges in price from $26,990 to $39,990 and is available in five-speed manual or six-speed sport automatic transmission. Like others in his community, either model can be found in front – or all-wheel drive, and motor or diesel or unleaded.
As for performance, it is between 122kW to 135kW depending on model and has a combined fuel consumption of 7.5/100Km. Suspension is said to be a bit stiffer in the Hyundai, but it is well equipped for his family.
Kia Sportage AWD SLI
We also have the Kia Sportage AWD SLI. Coming in between $ 32,990 and $ 35,990 Kia offers two 2.4L 2.0L unleaded or diesel engines. It has a six- speed Sport Automatic transmission, 4 x 4 on request.
Performance is definitely show, and boasting 130kW and 135kW petrol diesel. Expect combined fuel efficiency of diesel engines in 7.5/100Km and 9.2/100Km in petrol models.
While Kia has largely been designed for urban and city use, it is useful-enough off-road, but do not expect to do any serious four-wheel drive.
